Star Wars part 7, 8, 9 could be more fact than fiction

movies — by TDavid @ 12:58 pm PST

Put me in the group that has luke warm interest in seeing a 70 year old Han Solo along with three more Star Wars sequels. I’ve heard where Lucas said that the original idea was a 9-part series, but after the backlash from going back to part 1, 2 and 3 I’m thinking he should put a bullet in it. But … the Guardian is reporting otherwise:

A user at fansite TheForce.net, who claimed to be a Lucasfilm insider, said that staff at Industrial Light & Magic have already signed non-disclosure agreements pertaining to special effects work on three sequels, which would follow on from Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

If any of this rumour comes to fruition then I’m wondering why Lucas ever did part 1, 2, 3 which at least the first two parts have been met with disdain from so many of the Star Wars geeks from part 4, 5 and 6. Let me guess, Yoda dies in part 7, 8, or 9? Is Chewbacca really Luke’s father (a Simpson’s reference)? (removed because some people in the comments think I’m serious! I’m joking!) George Lucas needs to shoot this thing before it becomes Naked Gun vs. Star Wars. This gamble could turn into a real tragic franchise or a stroke of brilliance.

  1. The reason why Lucas started with Parts 4-6 and went back to Parts 1-3 is because the story is in true epic fashion. As with John Milton’s work “Paradise Lost” the story begins media res, which is latin for the middle of things or in the midst of things.

  2. First off, Yoda already died, that-a-way to pay attention….

and “Star Wars” the movie series is the story of Darth Vader, not of luke…. There’s no more Vader story to tell

Second, I thought eps 7-9 were a rumor gone totally insane, but i found cg clips from 7. they’re almost beleivable and to numerous to dismiss as a hoaxing tool. 7. Well then ending for return of the jedi used to be nice. It had the older anakin, the one luke looked at behind the mask, I think the actors last name was Shaw? hmmm. Then in the newest edit, the old anakin is replaced with a young 20 year old boy band look a like young Anakin. This totally ruined the movie for me. Luke is supposed to be looking at the father he saw behind the mask he removed. The one who saved his life. Darth pretty much became a Jedi again when he did an amazing act of kindness and destroyed the emperor, and took the deadly part of the emperors force power so luke would not get hurt. To me this means his spirit when he’s older should be with yoda and ben in the last part.

My point is…. if classics can be ruined over night when they are already perfect, there is NO WAY a 7 8 9 will be successful. There are no more good ideas coming out, only patches to break old amazing classic movies.

  8. My opinion it would be a great idea!!!!!!!! I can’t wait in teal I see Luke Skywalker children. As for Han Solo I also would like to see his children also. It will be the best of them all. Here are some of my ideas they could use to make Episode 7.Like use the boy who played as Anakin Skywalker in episode 1 to be as Lukes son. that is my idea for the 7 episode of starwars!!!!!!! (GO GEORGE LUCAS). Please Make 7,8and9 to finish the hole shibang.

  9. yes, i will not lie, it would be pretty cool to see 3 more movies. i myself almsot cried after the third one knowing that it was over, but that is the thing. it is over. there cannot be anymore. the original 3 were the story of luke defeating VADER!!! while the new three were the story of how anakin became VADER!!!! so the thing is is that the whole story is based on vader, and since he is no more, there can’t be anymore. it wouldn’t be right. the only thing i could think of is that episode 1-6 is vader, while 4-6 is also luke, so they could make 7-9 with luke, so that both can have an even number of movies mainly based on them.

  10. Ok people, here’s the deal, and I thought all the avid Star Wars junkies knew this. Star Wars IS a 9 part story. Always was. Lucas said so himself. The final 3 episodes deal with Luke, Leia, and Hans stories continued on. I have the 3 hard cover edition Novels that were Authorized and written by the same novelist, Timothy Zahn. Their titles are as follows: Ep VII Heir to the Empire, Ep VIII Dark Force Rising, and finally Ep IX The Last Command. All I’m saying is, there are definitely 3 more episodes in script in GL’s files somewhere, wether or not they ever get made is another question. Would be interesting to see how everything plays out. Not like the fans wouldn’t go see them or anything. Yes, the first 6 are mainly Anakin’s story, however, being as Luke and Leia are his offspring and BOTH are Jedi by blood, the story is far from finished. Thank you.
