A couple Gmail invites left - Make Me Laugh Contest |
Would you like one of those coveted Gmail invites? My wife and I still have a couple left and it’s time to get them into the hands of folks who would like them. Here’s all you have to do:
1) make me laugh out loud with a relevant comment made to any Make You Go Hmm post. There’s nearly 1000 of these blog posts now here, so there’s plenty of material to have a witty comment on. If your comment isn’t relevant to the post and/or spam then it won’t make me laugh, it will irritate me. You can also — or instead – trackback a post from your own blog and I’ll read and judge trackbacks too.
2) The first 3 people who make me laugh out loud and at the same time mention in their post that they want a Gmail invite will be awarded the invite. I’m the judge of what makes me laugh but I will update this post with the winners.
3) This contest runs until 12:01am PST September 1, 2004. If three people don’t make me laugh between now and then the contest is over.
Just to help those who might not realize what my sense of humor is like: here’s an example of something I chuckled out loud over. In this Gmail-related post where I explained how I ran out of the 1GB of Gmail space in 3 months and that with manual deletion through the system it would take me nearly 10 hours straight to clear out the spam bin, one reader thought he’d slip in a barter offer for a Gmail invite:
If you are still having problems with your spam I would be willing to waste that ten hours for a gmail invite - chris - 18 August ‘04 - 05:10
Congratulations Chris! If you reply to this post (same email address as the original comment must be used, just to prevent some bogus “Chris” from responding) – just add a comment here indicating that you still want the invite — by midnight PST Sunday August 22, then we’ll send you one of these three invites.
So why are we doing this?
1) I know some people out there still want a Gmail invite as evidenced by the comments still regularly rolling in on this blog requesting one (watch the lefthand comments column)
2) What good are these invites doing collecting virtual dust in our inboxes?
3) Humor is good for the soul and is a great stress reliever.
Good luck to all Things That … Make You Go Hmm readers!

Password rej
A new employee joins the Company, and is required to have a
password setup for his computer. The boss directed a secretary
to setup the password for him.
The secretary asks the man for the password. The man, attempting
to embrass the secretary in order to show superiority, said,
“Penis.”
Blushed, the secretary inputted the password Penis, and re-typed
it again. Then she hit enter.
The whole office heard the secretary bursting out of laughters
as a reaction from the computer’s screen:
“Password rejected. Reason: Too short”
