Epson wants to add printing to TV |
Printer maker Epson wants to add printers to TV sets so folks can print magazines, catalogs, maps and brochures using their remote.
The Megaport project, which also involves media organizations such as Japanese newspaper Mainichi Shinbun and publisher Kadokawa Shoten, produces television programs that combine broadcasts with printable content such as maps and brochures. For example, a viewer could watch a television commercial for a furniture store, then print out the product catalog with the click of a button.
The article also talks about freezing pictures and printing them as JPEG images. Interesting. Personally, I think it’s just a matter of time before several electronic mediums (TV, radio, printers, internet) merge and produce some really exciting products. It’s already starting.
