Former Google employee alleges age discrimination |
This sounds like sour grapes to me.
In the lawsuit, filed last week in California Superior Court in Santa Clara County, Brian Reid charges that Google routinely discriminates against employees over the age of 40 in its recruiting, hiring and employment practices. Reid, who is 54, contends that he was terminated from his position as director of operations based on his age and ongoing health issues related to diabetes.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Google is looking to frontload themselves with youth and vitality, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have plenty of jobs for the 50+ crowd. I’m sure they realize that wisdom — which is predominant in the 50+ crowd — is also necessary in long term survival for any company. If anything, as a younger person once in the corporate world, I think there was age discrimination the opposite way. This is an interesting allegation, but one that I sincerely doubt will hold any water in court.
Did this post make you go hmm?
