Gnomedex 2004 format changes |
Chris Pirillo has posted that contrary to the Gnomedex 2004 promotion to date there will be “no open bar, no Comedy Central” — so the marketing push which had made it sound like some multi-day huge party instead of a technology event will now switch gears. Pirillo added that he is making it go “back to its roots” and that the 50 or so folks who had signed up when the deal included an open bar will get drink tickets, thus making good on the former offer. The Gnomedex website sans changes shows no price change: it’s still $199 per person for pre-registration and $250 per person at the door. The event is being held in S. Lake Tahoe at Harveys from Sept 30 - Oct 2, 2004.

I think Pirillo went a little “too Hollywood” with this years Gnomedex. Obviously, not a lot of people are going since he’s changing things around. I think he shot himself in the foot moving it away from Iowa. That would be really going “back to its roots”… Not Lake Tahoe at a casino.
