I read somewhere that 50% or higher of internet users access the internet through dial up. There are many areas of the US and many of the developing nations that just do not have any access to broadband. And I think that is what Vonage and skype were designed for.

Plus the fist go around with internet telephony, as I remember it, the sound quality was really bad. And it turned alot of uses off to tose sevices.

And if you are a dial-up user, why would you want to use skypeout, when you could just use your phone.

Skype sound quality is excellent and when I talk to people via Vonage nobody even realizes I am talking to them via VoIP, but we use cable and DSL, not dial-up. Dial-up users still are the issue, agreed. I doubt we'll be buying the SkypeOut option because we already have unlimited calling via Vonage, but it might be a good backup option for situations where Vonage is down (like right at the moment, BTW). Vonage has had excellent uptime but today for some reason things are not good.
