The Gameboy Advance portable gaming killer from Sony sounds like it is going to launch more like an N-Gage killer. Sony is expecting a loss on the hardware, which is nothing new for the gaming industry (they make the money on the software not the hardware). The speculated price is said to be $100-200 USD more than the Gameboy Advance which in my opinion will be too pricey for a portable handheld game system unless it is as good as or better than the full size systems.

[at] E3 in Los Angeles, Sony Computer Entertainment of America Chief Executive Kaz Hirai also said the company would need to have a minimum of six to 10 games available at the PSP’s launch, both from its own studios and from third-party publishers.

Sony better hope for a better economy when this launches in the US in “early 2005″ because I don’t think people will find this handheld in their budget at this pricepoint with these few games at launch. Just my 2 1/2 rusted pennies.
