Goodbye Friends

television — by TDavid @ 10:07 pm PST

Tonight the wife and I are going to watch the first episode of Friends at its regular running time on TV. We bought the first seven seasons on DVD but have never watched or TiVO’d a single episode in its regular scheduled TV slot.

We’ll be buying season 8, 9, and 10 when they come out. I am finding that with few exceptions this is how I prefer to watch TV these days: when it comes out on DVD. I enjoyed the first few seasons of Friends but the whole will Ross get together with Rachel storyline got kind of stale. They are running a special two hour show with the first hour being a retrospective on the series and the second hour being the show finale. I’ll update this entry after watching the show. Got to run, it is starting now!

Update (after the show): If you haven’t seen yet then stop reading now …

spoilers ahead

okies, it was good to see Ross and Rachel finally get together. The happy ending is safe, but in this case of this couple, it was well past time. I’m not sure how that new series with Joey will turn out but I’ll make a prediction now that it’s going to flop. Spinoff series on characters from successful sitcoms haven’t historically done well. It probably would have been more interesting to see a spinoff with Ross and Rachel.
