The next time you come across a site with good content where the design sucks then perhaps you should wonder if ugly sites sell better:

…So I took it and had a gorgeous site designed out of it and kept the same ad copy on it. Results for the site instantly vanished. Sales dropped to less than half of what they were before. Ugly worked better!

Good thing I have some ugly sites!
