The verdict is in: Martha Stewart Convicted on All Counts |
Martha Stewart has had better days. Despite her continually saying that she felt she would be found innocent of charges related to the sale of a stock (insider trading), a jury of her peers has found differently. Washington Post: Martha Stewart Convicted on All Counts:
After a five-week trial in federal court in New York, Stewart, 62, was convicted of conspiracy, making false statements and obstructing justice in connection with her sale of about $228,000 worth of ImClone Systems Inc. stock on Dec. 27, 2001, a day before the Food and Drug Administration disclosed that it had not approved the company’s new cancer medication.
Stewart apparently still isn’t taking the news without a fight:
In a statement posted on her Web site, Stewart proclaimed her innocence and vowed to appeal the verdict. “I will appeal the verdict and continue to fight to clear my name,” Stewart said. “I believe in the fairness of the judicial system and remain confident that I will ultimately prevail.”
Is Martha being made a martyr or is there fire where there is smoke in this case?
Did this post make you go hmm?
