I’ve written before that I subscribe to PC Magazine digitally via Zinio.  It’s currently the only subscription that I read this way, and it continues to be an interesting way to read. On my wish list is a Pocket PC version, which would make it easier for me to literally take the magazine with me. From the Feb 3 issue, PC Mag published 10 resolutions for 2004.



On this list (twice), back up your data. With CD-RW in just about every new PC, the numerous available storage devices, and the price of PCs continuing to plummet data backup is almost a no brainer. Also focus on anti-spam and phishing (those scams that email you under the guise of needing account information to update the website. I’m on high alert on both of these. Good job on this list, PC Magazine!

The new Feb 17, 2004 issue is available for download for digital (Zinio) subscribers. When you sign up for the digital subscription you’ll be able to read their mag sooner than you can get it at the newsstand, which is a bonus. I noticed that upon visiting the PC Mag website, they don’t even show this issue yet — as of this writing — as their newest issue. The PC Mag website is a very good website too, with their special utility download area ($19.95/year) they have a good selection of useful applications. Their newest utility download is called: File Warden which: keeps your personal information safe from prying eyes with strong file and folder encryption and secure, configurable data deletion.. Help stop identity theft, which fits the stop scam theme for 2004. It would be nice if 2004 was the year of fighting back against viruses, spam, phising and vaious identity theft schemes.
