stumbleupon websites, and increase site presence

  1. I just discovered this service and am trying it out. It seems interesting… but of questionable usefulness.

How many of us really have much time to just “stumble” around the Web nowadays anyway? In my limited free time, I check out blogs I already know I enjoy (like this one), and occasionally follow recommended links from the bloggers themselves on their sidebars or articles.

But I already visit too many blogs and participate in too many online forums. The more time I spend online, the less time I have to spend offline actually talking to and solidifying friendships with ‘real people.’

So I ask, honestly: Are services like StumbleUpon really good for the Internet and good for surfers? Were we really having trouble finding interesting or useful Web sites on our own?

Forgive my cynicism and harshness here, and really… I’m certainly open to hearing opposing views about this service and services like it.

  2. Hi Adam - I see that you signed up about the same time as me. I am always on the lookout for new tools to ‘introduce’ me to sites I don’t have bookmarked or would like to be reintroduced to. For me, anyway, I’ve found that it’s all too easy to fall into a comfort zone with recieving information/opinion/feedback from a specific circle of websites. For instance, I routinely visit the beta MSN newsbot (see right column for link) in addition to Google News. I find that while there is some crossover in the content, there is interesting content in both.

Part of the allure, excitement and usefulness of the web is exploration and I try with my blogging, anyway, to keep an open mind for searching new ways of doing things. In answer to the question: Are services like StumbleUpon really good for the Internet and good for surfers? If they help folks sift the cream from the crap and find others who share similar interests, I say yes. stumbleupon is really nothing extradorinarily new and I’m still much too new to it to provide a full on review of its usefulness in a business context, if any. I plan to do so after I’ve used it for a little while so please check back for a more in-depth review of it. I did send along the link to a few friends to check it out and I’d like to hear their feedback on it.

  3. I think no internet utility can equal human relations. Spending to much time on the net will make us having dificulties in society. If you have time please visit my site.
There is an entire industry of scamming going on now, and we should take all the precautions we can to fight it. Fight against scamms! View producer charts! View consumer opinios! That is what, all of us here at the american-penis-enlargement.us stand for.
For webmaster: if you consider that the comment is unapropiate I’m sorry and please remove it from your database.

  4. So Liz, if I understand you correctly, by getting my penis enlarged is going to make me more social than using the stumbleupon interface? Now that’s funny!
