Choose one: coffee is good or bad for you |
We may never know the answer to whether coffee consumption is good or bad. It seems like every study contradicts the previous one, and there is no end in these studies ongoing search for reliable data. New studies suggest that drinking coffee may help reduce adult onset diabetes.
The good news is that there is very little evidence that caffeine or coffee has serious or long-term effects, except in certain people. It does not cause high blood pressure (except when associated with smoking), strokes or heart attacks.Yikes it makes me shudder thinking of the number of people who are online who smoke and drink coffee (probably to excess). I was at a webmaster gathering and saw excess of both of these vices running pretty rampant. Of course that was my informal study based upon one type of group of webmasters.
It goes on:
Any associations of coffee with cancer are very weak at best, so the risk of cancer from drinking coffee is probably minimal.“Probably” … I love it, these guys don’t really know. Here’s another one
I quit drinking coffee a couple years ago because I averaged a pot a day, which I know that wasn’t good for my health.
Although coffee is one of the most heavily researched commodities and studies have spanned decades, there is still much controversy surrounding its ill effects, or lack thereof, on health. Study after study is performed–often with conflicting results–and it seems there is always a new study out to discount the last one. Still, the average American adult consumes over 10 pounds of coffee per year, which amounts to a total of 2.4 billion pounds a year in the United States alone.
Purified water with a twist of lime and lemon, ahhh, now that’s good for you. Maybe.
Did this post make you go hmm?
