AOL cuts 450 more jobs in California |
In a further move to bring costs into line Infoworld reports AOL is reducing its workforce in California by 450 employees. Considering the company employs some 19,000 workers, this move overall is a small cut, but certainly no consolation to those who will be given pink slips at Christmas time. This notice follows the axing of the Netscape project which they originally acquired in 1998 and an announcement of a special, limited time offer for a PC for $299 (plus a one year committment to AOL service). Could this be a sign of the beginning of the end for AOL as the #1 internet service provider or is this just more evidence of the weakened dot com economy?
