I am so fed up with Rhapsody. I spent $15 on a Rhapsody card and after downloading the software, I was unable to purchase anything. I would right-click and select 'buy track/s' and nothing would happen. Sometimes an error message would pop up saying they could not authorize the machine and other times absolutly nothing happened. I had to literally call technical support 5 times (over the course of two days) to try to get the problem fixed. I followed every instruction from several different Tech Supporters and after being on the phone for about 20 min the problem would be fixed, for one song only. I was never able to purchase a song without having to speak directly to technical support. Today I was on the phone for an hour and a half with technical support trying to pinpoint what the problem was. Still no luck. I even followed several e-mail instructions with their online tech support. I had to delete and re-install the program several times and did countless other things to my computer as well. The problem was never fixed and when I asked for a refund of the $15 (that basically went to waste) I was denied. They said the only thing they could do for me would be to credit money to my account that can be used toward song purchases (which seems rather dim-witted because I can't purchase songs!) It was a big mess and I can't believe that not only did I basically waste $15 but I also wasted over 2 and a half hours of min's on my cell phone (over the course of two days) all for nothing.

The fact that I have found so many new artists (and purchased the CDs either via Rhapsody or music store) is the man point for me! I have Rhapsody on all three of my computers so I can listen anywhere! I think this is a very good option for new artists! I never would have heard about them unless I received the email from Rhapsody or listen to there "Ones to watch" playlist.

I seem to have Rhapsody installed on my computer and I don't know how it got there because I did not ask for it. I have tried to uninstall and get a message that says "file not found". Could you tell me how to get rid of it. Thanks

Ok, I'm listening to Rhapsody right now! I must say that I too am quite impressed. I may just keep the subscription and use it to listen to music I don't own to see if I like the group. I have already decided that I don't really like Liz Phair. I like the song that is playing on the radio, but I'm not going to drop $10 on her CD's.

Thanks for suggesting them. None of my normal sources have said much about Rhapsody and I had been real hesitant to use anything that uses the RealONE Player. Now that I have downloaded it, I see that it doesn't use that RealONE to play the tunes they offer.

The player itself isn't all that good, but I can live with that so long as I can "Try before I buy" my music. :)

Thanks again for the suggestion!

I'm a Rhapsody fan for all of the reasons you mention in your well-written piece.

On aspect you didn't point out: introduction to new music. The Rhapsody service makes it easy to check out artists whom you might've heard about but not heard.
