AOL users, if you navigate to keyword: beta then you can be part of the beta testing for AOL 9.0 optimized. I had a more comic take on this in this earlier entry and as I had figured so far, there isn’t a lot that is new so far. Maybe in the final version it will be a big new step. Here is what is and isn’t different so far and keep in mind it’s just a beta interface:

- a bit of graphical change in the signon interface, and several graphical / design changes once you get to the first welcome screen and main toolbar
- more IM features like animated buddies (looks pretty cool, but I haven’t tried yet)
- “journal” (blogging function) is not yet available for review/testing, but it’s supposed to be in the final release version

  2. I was offered the chance to download aol 9.0 Optimized beta and I did but everytime l go to get on it it say’s it has to download some file then for me to reboot no matter how many times I reboot. It still tells me it needs to download files then would have to reboot so I’m not able to go online with it

  3. I have downloaded aol 9.0 optimized but resolution is so small I cannot read. My best resolution is 640×800

  4. This is the most annoying thing I have ever tried. Every week I have to download yet another beta version. If I don’t download within three log-in attempts, I am locked out of the system until I can spare 2-3 hours for it to install,it’s also the slowest damn thing I’ve ever seen.
This version also seems to allow me to be knocked off AOL whenever a phone call comes in despite the fact that I disable Call Waiting whenever I log on to AOL. This is the biggest waste of time.
